What counts as a dental emergency?
Any dental issue that causes significant pain, bleeding, swelling, or the risk of losing a tooth is an emergency. That includes severe toothaches, cracked or knocked-out teeth, lost fillings or crowns, abscesses, and injuries to the mouth or jaw. When in doubt, call us — we'll help you figure out how fast you need to be seen.
Can I really be seen today?
Yes. We hold space in our schedule every day for emergency patients. Call the office as early in the day as you can and we'll do everything we can to get you in the same day.
What should I do for a knocked-out tooth?
Pick the tooth up by the crown (the top), not the root. Gently rinse it with milk or saline if it's dirty, but don't scrub it. If you can, place it back in the socket and bite down on gauze. If not, store it in a cup of milk or saliva and get to our office within an hour — time is critical for saving the tooth.
My tooth stopped hurting — do I still need to come in?
Yes, please do. When severe tooth pain disappears suddenly, it often means the nerve inside the tooth has died, and an infection can still spread silently. Getting evaluated right away is the only way to know what's actually happening.
What does the $39 emergency exam include?
The $39 emergency exam covers a focused exam and any X-rays needed to diagnose what's going on. From there, we'll walk you through your treatment options and give you a clear cost estimate before any work begins.
Will my insurance cover emergency care?
Most dental insurance plans include emergency visits. We'll verify your benefits before treatment and handle the billing for you, so you know exactly what's covered before we start.
